How We Go About It

Overlooked by a supervisor with 15 years experience you will have complete peace of mind when we undertake your project. We employ various project managers depending on the size and project. Our project managers and Mr Garrett himself will sit and discuss your needs with you before any work is undertaken. Therefore when the work has begun you will have a contact point and a full understanding of each stage of the project.

Experience

John

John trained as an electrical engineer and keeps himself constantly up to date with the ever changing standards and innovations.

He has international experience in both commercial and domestic work, from starting out as a Planning Engineer for British Telecommunications to being the design engineer for the commonwealth swimming complex in New Zealand in 1990 to owning his own successful company dealing with such projects as Stanmer House etc. Along with over 20 years international experience in Electrical Engineering John Garrett is also a seasonal lecturer in the Electrical Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)

Our Team

Many of our more experienced staff have been with us since J.P Garretts was founded over a decade ago.

Sue

Finding her natural vocation working as a registered nurse in England and New Zealand, Sue left the nursing profession and joined as a Director when the company was founded in 1995. Her natural organisation and care has led her to be a key member of our team. Sue heads up many of our departments taking a keen interest in all aspects. She is responsible for all of our Health and Safety, Quality Assurance and Legal and Employment requirements. She will also be your contact point when it comes to being invoiced.

Carol

Our supervisor and Office Manager Carol is one of the more important contacts at Garretts. With 10 years experience with J.P Garretts, Carol has the ability to competently deal with all your needs. From allocating suitable appointments and qualified electricians wherever necessary to organizing materials and parts as well as certification. She can control every aspect of your project with ease.

Ian

Ian has been with J.P Garretts since the beginning. He is one of our most important and experienced project managers being involved in large prominent projects such as Stammer house and Rail track. As well as liaising with Carol and John for the duration of any project he is also one of our first aiders. We have full confidence in Ian's ability to control any problem or query you may have.

Matt

Been with us for 10 years Matt is an experience electrician and mechanic and charge hand with Garretts. Working carefully alongside Brighton and Hove City Council for their council buildings and depots, he also has great expertise and sensitivity with loop systems and a working knowledge of sign language as well as an ability to communicate with people with hearing and speech difficulties. This makes him an integral part of our communication process and a great asset to the team.

Keith

Keith is a very experienced electrician and is out first choice for any troubleshooting problem. Working also as a charge hand Keith has been with the company for nearly 10 years he is extremely qualified and versed in all aspects of electrical works including motors.

Eddie

Eddie joined us as an apprentice and has worked through his education to qualify as an electrician and join our task force. He has great discipline and attention to detail and due to this works closely with Matt on Brighton and Hove Council sites.

Electricians

All of our electricians are fully qualified. Many of them have been with us for over 5 years enabling us to have complete faith in their ability and trust in all they do.

Apprentices

An apprenticeship with us works out very well for both employer and employee. Enthusiastic apprentices are picked to help the electricians with their work where they can learn about the practicalities of the trade and put their classroom learning into practice.
